A Note About Ordering Custom Rods
We get a lot of questions about this, particularly from surf guys. We tend to describe rod builds in three different levels.
Our “standard” rod means simple decorative work… a few diferent colors, an open wrap, guides with a little extra trim. They’re still built custom, for you, using your physical dimensions when necessary. Think minimalist. All go, with just a touch of show. These sticks are tools first, statements second. You might not get stopped at the boat ramp, but you’ll know what you’ve got.
Our “advanced” builds cost a bit more, but they’re worth every penny. Now you have options. One of those is real, dyed abalone shell inlaid onto the rod, wrapped with complimentary colors, with guide wraps colored to match. They look INCREDIBLE, and they’re one of my favorite looks on ANY rod. Or maybe you like the Captain B signature rods that you’ve fished. That’s a tiger wrap, and they look amazing. These rods get attention. Men will envy you. Women will want to be with you. Or vice versa. Or not. We don’t judge.
Then there’s the “unlimited” stuff… big decoartive wraps in an unlimited color palette, guide wraps with fading color changes, crazy metal flake epoxy marbling, themed rods, bluefin trolling sticks with abalone under every roller, the list goes on, and the options are endless. Go nuts.
The only thing that changes are the labor costs. We receive a discount on parts through our partners, and we pass that discount along to you.
